We are a group of parents and carers who work together to arrange fundraising events to benefit the school.
We try to meet at least once a term. Our meetings are informal, last about an hour and are held in the staff room. If there is a particular event coming up, a team of volunteers will meet to organise this.

- To promote the involvement of families and the community in St John’s
- To be inclusive, fun and friendly
What we do
For the children, we put on discos, hold family events and organise our big events of the year – the winter and summer fairs.
For the parents and carers, our events are a great way to have fun, get to know other parents and support the school whilst raising money.
For the school, we buy brilliant stuff, including:
- PE and book bags for all new children
- Laptops and iPads
- Reading books
- Subsidised trips
- Funding the vegetable plots
- New playground markings
- Fantastic playhouse in the Reception outdoor classroom
- Chicken coop, supporting the school’s chicken breeding programme
What you can do
You are warmly invited to support our school PTA in whatever way you can.
If you can come along to meetings, you will be very welcome, whether you are new to the school or a long-established family. Coming to a meeting does not mean you will be asked to organise anything, and new ideas are always appreciated. Meetings and events are advertised in the school newsletters.
If you can’t manage meetings, but can lend a hand at events, that would be fantastic. Alternatively, we always need help sourcing donations for our winter and summer fair raffles, so if you or anyone you know works for a company that would be willing to donate a gift (a meal at a restaurant, a night at a hotel, beauty treatment etc.), it would be gratefully received.
