Welcome to Year 3

Mrs Tennant, Miss Baker and Miss Harrison lead the teaching and learning across the two classes in Year 3, supported by Mrs Challinor, Mrs Bryans and Mrs Hadfield.  As the children transition into Key Stage 2, we encourage them to become more independent and take more responsibility for their learning.

We work very closely together and plan carefully to ensure that there is an exciting curriculum with lots of enriching activities, including problem solving tasks.  The children follow the new National Curriculum, which you can read all about on the Department for Education website.  We also ensure that there is consistency across the year group.  Even though the children are sometimes in mixed ability groups, we are very keen to get the balance right between class unity and pitching work appropriately for each child’s individual level.  Some subjects are taught in classes.  However, on occasions, we join the classes together for more creative lessons.
