I have had the privilege of being the Head Teacher at St John’s Primary School and Nursery since 2012.  The school has been on an incredible journey, and in June 2018 we succeeded in our aim to become a National Teaching School.

We have a super team in place at St John’s and everyone, working at every level, has the best interests of the children at heart.  We are proud of our children, their families, the community and our achievements.  However, we firmly believe that, as well as having high expectations in terms of learning, we also want children to be safe, happy, resilient and well prepared for life.

Please do come and visit us to see for yourself.  We don’t plan set open days, so instead try to accommodate visits during the school day.  In that way, people can see our fantastic school in action and get a real sense of the nurturing, family feel that, I believe, makes our school special.

Very best wishes,

Mr D Barrow
Head Teacher

We have three main aims at St John’s Primary School and Nursery:

  1. That all our children are safe in our care.
  2. That all our children are happy.
  3. That all our children achieve their best, whatever their starting point.
