Welcome to St. John's Pre-School and Little Roots Nursery

We are very proud of our settings, which are warm, safe and secure, and both very much a part of our school. In 2022, the pre-school was reformed in the in response to the impact lockdowns have had on the early experiences of the children, supporting an environment for accelerated progress in their social, emotional and communication development. With the evidenced success for children starting St. John's age 3, the school is looking to further support children's development, opening Little Roots Nursery in January 2025 for children aged 2+.

The pre-school and nursery are both part of our fantastic early years unit, led by experienced and talented qualified teachers who have created a magical and imaginative learning environment which enables all the children to flourish.  The children are also well supported by fully qualified and experienced learning support assistants. Together, these adults ensure the children progress not only socially and emotionally, but academically too.

Children can join our 'Little Roots Nursery' from the age of two and 'St. John's Pre-School' from the age of three, but most commonly start the term following their second or third birthday.  Children whose second or third birthday falls on or before 31st August usually join us in the autumn term; those whose birthday falls on or before 31st December usually join in the spring term; and those whose birthday falls on or before 31st March usually join in the summer term.

If you would like to visit our Nursery or Pre-School, please contact the school office who will be happy to arrange a convenient time for you to look around.  Enquiries about the availability of Nursery and Pre-School places should also be made to the school office.

To make an application for a Nursery or Pre-School place at St John’s, you will need to complete an application form. Please find a link to our application form at the bottom of the page.

Little Roots Nursery Sessions and Hours

Little Roots Nursery is open every day during Warwickshire school term times (excluding school Inset days).  Morning sessions run from 8:30am to 12:00pm.  Afternoons are from 12.00pm to 4.00pm and include lunchtime.  Children who attend for a full day or an afternoon will need to bring a healthy packed lunch.

We understand how important it is that parents can have flexibility when organising their child’s nursery provision.  This is why we offer choice in how you use your free entitlement hours, and also offer options for those requiring more hours.

We do request that changes to Nursery attendance patterns only be made at the start of a term (i.e. in September, after Christmas and after Easter).

30 Hours Free Childcare

Some working parents and carers will be eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare per week.  You can find out more information about this benefit by visiting www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

Purchase of Additional Nursery Sessions

If you are not eligible for 30 hours funded childcare, there may be the opportunity to purchase additional morning or afternoon sessions at a cost of £12.00 per session, subject to availability.  For those children attending a morning session, there is an option to bring a packed lunch and stay until 1.00pm at a cost of £3.50 per session.  Additional sessions and lunchtimes are invoiced half-termly and can be paid for by childcare voucher, on ParentPay, or by cash or cheque.
