Parent/Volunteer Helpers

We are always grateful for parent helpers in school, especially to hear children read.  If you feel able to help, please contact the school office.  Volunteers working with children will be subject to an enhanced disclosure check.

Parent Governor

Have you thought about becoming a School Governor?

Becoming a governor offers you the opportunity to make a real contribution to the life and work of our school.  School governors play a key role in the leadership of the school and work together with staff to make sure that our school provides a challenging and supportive environment for its pupils.

There are currently vacancies for two parent governors on the governing body at St John’s and we are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to put their names forward.  Being a governor can be very rewarding and will provide you with the opportunity to meet new people and gain new skills.  Do not worry if you have no experience in education matters as training and support are available from the Local Authority and your colleagues on the governing body.

How do I apply to be a Governor? If you would like to put your name forward for the parent governor positions, please complete a nomination form, paper or electronic copies of which can be obtained by contacting the school office.  Please return the form to the school office, marked for the attention of the Clerk to Governors, by Friday 22nd March 2024.  In the event that more than two nominations are received, an election will be held and ballot papers for this will be sent to all parents and carers.

If you are interested and would like to find out more about being a school governor, then please contact us here at school and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.  We look forward to hearing from you.
