Relationships and Health Education
We have recently updated our PSE/RSE scheme of work to bring our curriculum up date with current DfE expectations. We now follow the SCARF scheme of work, which is provided by Coram Life Education. This scheme provides engaging lessons for all children from Nursery through to Year 6.
SCARF, provides a curriculum and a whole-school framework for building the essential life skills to support physical and emotional wellbeing – crucial for children to achieve their best, academically and socially. Meeting all DfE requirements for statutory Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), SCARF provides a complete curriculum to teach a comprehensive RSHE, PSHE and Wellbeing programme throughout the primary years.
The programme we follow teaches children emotional literacy, social- and lifelong skills, RSE/RSHE and resilience in an age-appropriate manner.
PSE is an extremely important part of our curriculum at St John's, as it gives children the vital knowledge they need to build the best possible life. The intention of PSE/RSE is to equip all children with the tools they need to live happier and healthier lives, giving them agency to make their way through the world as they grow into young adults.
