Phonics

Phonics is taught from EYFS upwards and forms a huge part of Early Years and KS1 learning. Daily phonics sessions take place in Reception and Year One, with consolidation sessions taking place in Year 2 to ensure that children are fluent readers by the time they reach KS2.  We follow the Government advice re phonics teaching, using accredited schemes - We currently use Bug Club in EYFS and Year 1 and then transition to using Rocket Phonics books. Children in year one will take their phonics screening test in the summer term around May time. .
