Out of School Club
Welcome to the St John’s Out of School Club
We have our own Out of School club on site, managed by the school and led by qualified and experienced staff, which enables us to support parents and carers by providing high quality childcare at affordable prices.
Our objectives for the Out of School Club are:
to create and maintain a safe, caring and supportive environment for our pupils outside of normal school hours
to be flexible in accommodating the needs of parents
to operate on a sound financial basis to ensure the continued success and viability of the Club
The Out of School Club is open from 7.30am to the start of school (8.45am) and from the end of school (3.15pm) until 6.00pm. The Club also operates a holiday club during the first two weeks of the school summer holidays. We look after children from school age to 11 years old.
The club is located in designated rooms within St John’s Primary School which are set up to offer a range of activities for the children to enjoy. These activities are based in theme blocks that allow children to learn new skills, develop their talents and boost their social skills in a friendly safe environment run by the School. Themes are varied throughout the year and within each theme children will have access to 'zones' which they are able to free flow through, making their own choice of activity based on how they are feeling.
The zones are:
RED- a sport or energetic activity either outside or in the Hall
BLUE- a calm, more relaxed arts and crafts based activity
ORANGE- an activity children can do with friends including games, cookery and creative projects
We also have many events we run throughout the year and recently we have been joined by:
Curious creatures reptiles
FMA Martial Arts
Football coaching
Dance coaching
Little Scallywags Play inflatables
We have also hosted a Talent show to raise money for Red Nose Day.

The Out of School Club Team
All staff working with the children in the Out of School Club are DBS-checked, with many having other roles within the school. The current team are:
Mrs Carla Hadfield – Manager
Mrs Sharon McDonnell- Play worker
Mrs Sarah Taylor - Play worker
Mrs Dayna Barker - Play worker
Mr Adam Lee, Head Teacher, oversees the day-to-day running of the club.
Out of School Club Hours and Charges
The Out of School Club is open every day during school term time (excluding school INSET days).
The available sessions are:
Early Bird – 7.30am to 8.45am
£7.00 including breakfast
Morning – 8.00am to 8.45am
£6.00
Early Afternoon – 3.15pm to 5.00pm
£7.00 including a light healthy snack
Afternoon – 3.15pm to 6.00pm
£12.00 including a light healthy snack
We also offer a holiday club which runs during the first two weeks of the school summer holidays from 8.30am to 4.00pm.
Out of School Club Ofsted
The Out of School Club is registered with Ofsted and was last inspected in July 2017. The provision was graded as good across all areas.
